If your Saniflo is humming, blocking, leaking or refusing to flush, the cause is usually one of these six faults. Find yours below and we will sort it.
The bowl empties slowly or not at all. Usually a jammed macerator, a worn membrane or a partial blockage stopping the unit clearing waste the way it should.
You can hear the motor running but nothing clears. Typically something is caught on the blade, or the pump has seized and needs freeing or replacing.
The macerator keeps running long after you flush. Often a stuck pressure switch or a blocked outlet pipe is keeping the unit cycling non-stop.
Water pooling at the base points to a failed seal, a cracked casing or a loose pipe connection that needs resealing or replacing.
A drain smell that lingers usually means trapped waste, a dried-out trap, or harsh cleaners that have damaged the internal seals. It rarely clears on its own.
Wipes, sanitary items or limescale clog the chamber, so waste backs up into the bowl instead of pumping away. A macerator only handles toilet paper.

Massive thank you to Ben from Cortech who came for an emergency call out to find my wedding ring. Didn’t need any plumbing work thankfully as he found it in about 10 seconds by figuring out what had happened - a very logical approach. Left me feeling silly, but very grateful. Thanks so much!Posted on Google![]()

I had a shower unit locked open with water flowing for a couple of hours and needed a call out. Found Cortech on Google and rang them about 9.30 am on a Friday morning. The service man, a really helpful guy called Ben was here in 40 mins and sorted the problem immediately. He also helped me find a company who had a replacement unit and parts. From my initial call, to job completed ( including help with finding replacement unit ) took 45 mins. The speed and efficiency of the service, plus the really pleasant manner in which I was dealt with was a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend Cortech Plumbing.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified that these reviews were published on Cortech Plumbing's Google Business Profile. Learn more
A Saniflo toilet swaps the usual gravity drain for a compact electric macerator. When you flush, it grinds the waste into a fine slurry and pumps it along narrow pipework to the nearest soil pipe. That is how a bathroom can sit where standard drainage cannot reach.
Because the system leans on that pump and pipe run, one small fault or a poor original fitting causes most breakdowns. Our RGI-registered Dublin plumbers repair, service and install Saniflo units every week, so yours runs reliably.
The figures below are independent market estimates from Irish suppliers and Saniflo specialists, here to give you a realistic idea of cost. They are not Cortech’s prices. Every job differs, so you get a clear, fixed quote before any work begins.
€140 to €335
Fault type, parts needed, and whether it is a standard or emergency call-out.
€450 to €935
Model and capacity. Premium wall-hung and concealed units run higher, to around €1,375.
€800 to €1,500
Pipe run, access, the unit chosen and any electrical work required.
Plenty of plumbers will take a look at a Saniflo. Far fewer work on macerators every week, back it with real credentials, and turn up fast when it matters.
A dead macerator can't wait for office hours. Our emergency line runs 24 hours a day, and reviews regularly cite Cortech arriving within 40 to 45 minutes across Dublin.
Cortech holds a 5-star reputation across Google, Bark and OnlineTradesmen, with named plumbers like Cormac and the team praised for punctual, clean and professional work.
Every job is done by qualified, RGI-registered plumbers and backed by full public liability insurance. We are also members of the National Guild of Master Craftsmen.
You get a clear, fixed quote before any work starts. No unexpected charges, no call-out shocks and no bill at the end that you did not agree to.
It just takes 4 steps and one phone call to book your gas boiler service with Cortech.
Ring us or fill in the form with a quick description of the fault. We tell you what is likely wrong and book a visit that suits you.
Your plumber checks the whole installation rather than only the obvious symptom, to pin down the real cause before any work begins.
You get a clear, upfront price before we lift a tool. Once you approve it, we carry out the repair on the spot wherever possible.
We run the system under normal use to check it is working, then show you how to look after it, including what should never be flushed.
Boiler playing up? Pipe leaking? Radiators cold? Whatever the problem, Cortech sorts it all. One RGI registered team for your boilers, plumbing and everything in between.

Not every plumber will touch a Saniflo, because a macerator repair is a hands-on, messy job inside a sealed pump. You do not need the manufacturer, but you do need a plumber who works on macerators regularly. Cortech repairs Saniflo and Sanibroy units across Dublin every week.
A Saniflo that hums but will not flush usually has a jammed macerator blade or a seized pump, often caused by wipes, sanitary items or limescale. The motor is running but cannot turn. Switch it off at the mains and call a plumber, because forcing it can burn out the motor.
Saniflo repair in Dublin typically runs between €140 and €335 for a service or repair visit, with parts on top for bigger faults, while a full new installation usually costs €800 to €1,500. These are market estimates, and Cortech gives you a fixed quote before any work starts.
Repairing is usually worth it if the motor is sound and only a part has worn, which covers most faults. A Saniflo lasts about ten to fifteen years, so once a unit is past that or the motor has failed, replacement makes more sense. We give you the honest call on site.
A Saniflo should be serviced every one to two years to keep it running and prevent blockages, smells and pump wear. Regular servicing catches worn parts like the membrane and microswitch before they fail. Cortech services Saniflo and macerator units across Dublin and can set you up on a routine.
A Saniflo can go almost anywhere a standard toilet cannot, including basements, attics, garages, en-suites and extensions, because the macerator pumps waste through narrow pipes to the main soil pipe instead of relying on gravity. Cortech sizes and installs the right unit so it runs quietly and reliably.
A broken Saniflo will not wait, and a new bathroom is easier with the right team. Cortech repairs, services and installs Saniflo systems right across Dublin. Fill in the form and we will come straight back with a fixed quote, or call the 24-hour line and talk to a plumber now.
