Gas work rewards caution, and our credentials are built for it.
Every leak investigation and repair is carried out by RGI-registered engineers, so the work meets the safety standards Irish law requires for gas.
Leaks ignore office hours. Our team takes emergency calls around the clock, every day of the year, across Dublin.
Guild membership reflects the standard of workmanship behind our gas, heating, and plumbing repairs across the city.
You hear the callout cost before anyone travels, and repair prices arrive in writing before tools come out.
Gas leak detection in Dublin typically costs €80 to €200 for the callout and inspection, based on current pricing in 2026. Daytime visits usually sit between €80 and €150, while evening and weekend emergencies run €120 to €200. Repair work is priced on top once the engineer finds the fault.
Your final bill depends on how hard the leak is to reach. Here is what moves the figure.
Loose joints near appliances are quick to find, while leaks under floors or in walls take longer
Evening, weekend, and bank holiday callouts carry a premium
Older pipework takes longer to test, especially in pre 1970 homes
Full pressure tests on the gas line add time and equipment
Minor joint or valve fixes cost little, while pipework replacement is priced separately
Cortech quotes the callout clearly when you ring, and any repair is priced in writing before the work starts. No figure changes on the day.
From first call to final certificate, every step protects your home.
We inspect appliances, joints, and visible pipework first, tracing the smell to its strongest point.
Testing the gas line under pressure shows whether gas is escaping anywhere in the system, even where nothing is visible.
Detection equipment narrows the leak to its exact spot, and we repair the joint, valve, or pipe once you approve the price.
We retest the system, confirm it holds, and leave you with everything running safely and the paperwork to prove it.

Massive thank you to Ben from Cortech who came for an emergency call out to find my wedding ring. Didn’t need any plumbing work thankfully as he found it in about 10 seconds by figuring out what had happened - a very logical approach. Left me feeling silly, but very grateful. Thanks so much!Posted on Google![]()

I had a shower unit locked open with water flowing for a couple of hours and needed a call out. Found Cortech on Google and rang them about 9.30 am on a Friday morning. The service man, a really helpful guy called Ben was here in 40 mins and sorted the problem immediately. He also helped me find a company who had a replacement unit and parts. From my initial call, to job completed ( including help with finding replacement unit ) took 45 mins. The speed and efficiency of the service, plus the really pleasant manner in which I was dealt with was a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend Cortech Plumbing.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified that these reviews were published on Cortech Plumbing's Google Business Profile. Learn more
Natural gas has a smell added to it for exactly this reason, but the nose is not the only warning.
Suppliers add a sulphur smell to natural gas so leaks get noticed. Any whiff of rotten eggs deserves attention straight away.
Faint hissing around the meter, boiler, or visible pipes points to gas escaping under pressure.
Gas hobs and boilers should burn with a clean blue flame. Yellow or orange flames point to incomplete combustion and deserve a professional check.
Feeling lightheaded, tired, or nauseous at home, then better outside, is a warning sign that also applies to carbon monoxide. Fresh air first, then the emergency line.

Repair is the middle of the job, not the end. We retest the full line, confirm the system is sound, and issue the certification your insurer or landlord may ask for.
Leaks often trace back to ageing appliances. Booking an annual gas boiler service keeps the most common culprit checked once a year. Fitting carbon monoxide alarms is worth doing at the same time.

Most gas leak callouts in Dublin cost €80 to €200 including the inspection. Daytime visits sit at the lower end and emergency or after hours callouts at the upper end. Repairs are priced separately in writing once the engineer finds the fault.
Calling 1800 20 50 50 is free and the line runs 24 hours a day. Gas Networks Ireland attends, isolates the supply, and makes the situation safe without charging for the emergency visit. Repairing the leak on your side of the meter is the property owner’s responsibility, carried out by a Registered Gas Installer.
Registered Gas Installers handle the repair side. Gas Networks Ireland isolates the supply and confirms the danger has passed, then an RGI engineer traces the fault, fixes it, and retests the line before gas is restored. Our team covers that full repair side across Dublin [external link: rgii.ie].
Our team takes emergency calls 24 hours a day and prioritises suspected leaks across Dublin. Response times depend on the time of day and your location, and we give you an honest arrival window when you ring.
Engineers start with a visual inspection and smell trace, then pressure test the gas line to confirm whether gas is escaping. Detection equipment pinpoints the exact spot, the repair is priced in writing, and the system is retested before the job closes.
Trust your nose and get the system tested. Intermittent leaks seal themselves temporarily as temperatures change, so a clear first inspection does not always mean a clear system. Full pressure testing finds faults a visual check misses, and repeat smells always deserve a second look.
Yes. Small leaks build up in enclosed spaces over time, waste gas constantly, and can worsen without warning. Any suspected leak deserves the same response. Ventilate, avoid switches and flames, and call 1800 20 50 50, then book the repair.
Working carbon monoxide alarms are strongly recommended in any home with gas appliances, placed in rooms with a boiler, fire, or heater. Alarms cover the danger the nose cannot catch, because carbon monoxide has no smell. Advice on placement is available on the Gas Networks Ireland carbon monoxide line, 1800 89 89 89.
