We Know Dublin 3 Houses

Most of Dublin 3 was built before your boiler was invented. Marino went up in the 1920s in concrete, Clontarf and Fairview in Victorian redbrick, and a lot of what runs behind those walls has never been touched since.

Cortech works on these houses every week. RGI registered, fully insured and over 5 years in Dublin, we trace the fault properly before quoting, whether that ends in a repair or a full boiler replacement.

What Dublin 3 Is Built Of

Fix Old Houses Without Guesswork

Most Dublin 3 homes are pre-war and have been extended since. The faults follow the age of the build, which is why the first question is always what and when.

Most of these houses have been extended at least once. Knowing where the old plumbing stops and the newer work starts saves hours of lifting floors and opening walls.

Marino Concrete Houses

1920s Corporation builds where pipe access is rarely simple.

Lead and Steel Still In Use

Pre-war Fairview and Clontarf houses often on original pipe.

Tanks in the Attic

Gravity systems that lose pressure and waste heat.

Salt Air on the Seafront

Clontarf and Dollymount weather corrodes flues, taps and outside pipe.

Massive thank you to Ben from Cortech who came for an emergency call out to find my wedding ring. Didn’t need any plumbing work thankfully as he found it in about 10 seconds by figuring out what had happened - a very logical approach. Left me feeling silly, but very grateful. Thanks so much!

I had a shower unit locked open with water flowing for a couple of hours and needed a call out. Found Cortech on Google and rang them about 9.30 am on a Friday morning. The service man, a really helpful guy called Ben was here in 40 mins and sorted the problem immediately. He also helped me find a company who had a replacement unit and parts. From my initial call, to job completed ( including help with finding replacement unit ) took 45 mins. The speed and efficiency of the service, plus the really pleasant manner in which I was dealt with was a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend Cortech Plumbing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a plumber in Dublin 3 cost?

There is no flat rate, because the cost depends on the fault, the parts needed and the time of day. Across Dublin, a plumber call-out typically runs from around €60 to €100, hourly rates sit at roughly €70 to €100 after that, and out-of-hours work usually costs 1.5 to 2 times the standard rate. Those are typical market figures rather than a Cortech quote. Call (01) 963 6090 and you will get a fixed price agreed before any work starts.
Yes. Cortech covers all of Dublin 3, including Clontarf, Fairview, Marino, Killester, Dollymount, East Wall, North Strand and Ballybough. Our plumbers work across the city every day, so you get a realistic arrival time on the call rather than a vague window. Call (01) 963 6090 to book a visit.
Yes. Cortech answers Dublin 3 emergency calls 24 hours a day, every day of the year, weekends and bank holidays included. Burst pipes, suspected gas leaks and total heating failures are the jobs we take out of hours. Call (01) 963 6090 and you will hear the cost before anyone travels.
Usually yes, though it depends on what is already there. Pre-war Dublin 3 houses often run gravity-fed systems with an attic tank, and the existing pipework, gas supply and flue route all need checking before a combi goes in. Cortech surveys the house first and quotes a fixed price, so nothing changes once the old boiler is out.
Low pressure in an older house usually comes down to the mains supply, an ageing attic tank, a partly closed valve or furred-up pipework rather than the tap itself. In pre-war Dublin 3 homes, narrow or corroded pipe runs are a common cause. It needs testing rather than guessing, so call (01) 963 6090 and we will diagnose it.
Salt air is harder on external fittings than inland weather, so anything outside a house near the Clontarf or Dollymount seafront tends to corrode sooner. Boiler flue terminals, outside taps, condensate pipes and external pipework are the usual casualties. Having them checked at the annual boiler service catches it early. Call (01) 963 6090 to book one.
