Registered, insured and trusted across Dublin

Local to Dublin 6

Built for Period Houses

From the 1930s, Rathmines houses were cut into flats and bedsits. Many have since been turned back into single homes. Every conversion left pipework behind, and that is what we work around.

RGI registered, fully insured and over 5 years in Dublin. In a house this old we check what sits behind the plaster first, then quote on what we find.

What Usually Goes Wrong

Repair Without Ripping Floors

These six jobs make up most of our Dublin 6 call-outs, from Rathmines flats to Rathgar family homes. Tell us which one sounds like yours.

Leaks Stopped Same Visit

Traced through old pipework without lifting the whole floor.

Heating Back On

Boiler, pump and old controls diagnosed and fixed.

Gas Made Safe First

RGI-registered gas leak detection, made safe, then repaired.

Drains Running Again

Blockages cleared and the old clay drain checked.

Taps and Bathrooms Sorted

Dripping taps, weak flow and full bathroom plumbing.

Checked Before Winter

Annual boiler service with flue and CO checks.

Describe the fault and we will tell you what it takes to put right.

What We Work On

Work With What Is There

Four house types cover most of Dublin 6. Which one you have tells us where the pipework runs and what is likely to be hiding behind it.

Extensions are where most faults turn up. Rear kitchen extensions and attic bathrooms added since the 1990s join onto original runs, and that join is usually the weak point.

Rathmines Flat Conversions

Houses split into flats with pipework from every split.

Rathgar and Ranelagh Red Bricks

Victorian terraces still on their original pipe runs.

Milltown and Dartry Semis

Later houses with gravity systems reaching the end.

Newer Dublin 6 Apartments

Sealed pressurised systems serviced with the correct parts.

Massive thank you to Ben from Cortech who came for an emergency call out to find my wedding ring. Didn’t need any plumbing work thankfully as he found it in about 10 seconds by figuring out what had happened - a very logical approach. Left me feeling silly, but very grateful. Thanks so much!

I had a shower unit locked open with water flowing for a couple of hours and needed a call out. Found Cortech on Google and rang them about 9.30 am on a Friday morning. The service man, a really helpful guy called Ben was here in 40 mins and sorted the problem immediately. He also helped me find a company who had a replacement unit and parts. From my initial call, to job completed ( including help with finding replacement unit ) took 45 mins. The speed and efficiency of the service, plus the really pleasant manner in which I was dealt with was a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend Cortech Plumbing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Terenure in Dublin 6 or Dublin 6W?

Terenure is split between the two. Most of it sits in Dublin 6W, along with Harold’s Cross, Kimmage and Templeogue. Parts of Terenure fall inside Dublin 6 with Rathmines, Ranelagh, Rathgar, Milltown and Dartry. We cover both.
Usually not. We look for an existing access point first, such as a hatch, an airing cupboard or a run under the stairs. Where a board does have to come up, we lift it and put it back rather than cutting through it.
Yes. Rear kitchen extensions and attic bathrooms are regular work for us in Dublin 6. The part that needs care is the join onto the original pipework, because that is where pressure and drainage problems usually start.
Yes. Victorian and Edwardian houses in Dublin 6 were often plumbed in lead or steel, and both can be replaced with copper or plastic. We work in sections and follow existing routes where we can, so the floors and plaster stay intact.
Yes. We work in protected structures and conservation areas across Dublin 6, and we plan pipe routes around original features. Any consent needed for the works themselves sits with you and the local authority, and we will say if we think something needs checking first.
Cold at the bottom means sludge has settled inside the radiator. In the older gravity-fed systems common across Dublin 6, that build-up blocks flow through the lower half. A power flush or a radiator swap clears it.
